Kingdom Rush 6 on Mac and Steam Deck
Yes, it runs on Mac. The Steam version supports macOS, and one $19.99 purchase covers both Mac and Windows. Apple Silicon Macs are in the minimum spec, and Valve rates it Playable on Steam Deck.
Minimum requirements
| Mac | Windows | |
|---|---|---|
| Operating system | macOS 10.13 | Windows 10, 64-bit |
| Processor | Apple M1 or Intel Core M | Quad Core CPU |
| Memory | 8 GB RAM | 8 GB RAM |
| Graphics | OpenGL 3.0 compliant with 1.0GB of video RAM. | Intel UHD 600 |
| Storage | 3 GB available space | 3 GB available space |
These are the store’s minimum figures; Steam lists no recommended specification for either.
If the resolution comes up wrong
Ironhide’s launch-day fix: close the game, open ~/Library/Application Support/kingdom_rush_genesis on Mac (on Windows, AppData\Roaming\kingdom_rush_genesis in your user folder), delete settings.lua and global.lua, start the game, and when the splash sound plays hold Option (Alt on Windows) until a window lets you pick the resolution. If it runs slowly instead, set FPS to 30 or turn off VSYNC on page 5 of Options.
Steam Deck: Playable
Valve’s own test passed two checks and flagged two:
- The default controller configuration works.
- Performance is fine at the default settings.
- Some button icons shown are not the Steam Deck's.
- Some text is small enough to be hard to read.
There is no native Linux build; the Deck runs the Windows version. The game is also on iPad through the App Store, which is a separate purchase: see mobile.
